Days 41-50 of the 100 Days are all about the perfection of energy — diligence, perseverance, enthusiasm, sustained effort.
Energy or effort has a beautiful definition in a Buddhist context — it is mind that is delighting in goodness (virtue, wholesomeness).
Goodness, virtue, wholesomeness refer to states of mind: wisdom, compassion, and all the other paramis (perfections) — determination, lovingkindness, truthfulness, composure, generosity, renunciation, patience and equanimity.
So when we are delighting in generosity (our own or others) — this is effort that leads to liberation.
When we are delighting in patience (our own or others) — this is effort that leads to liberation.
See how beautiful and simple this is?
Understood this way, effort is easeful and simple.
One moment at a time, we take delight in bringing our natural goodness to light.
