Lovingkindness | Instructions for Practice

Oct 9, 2024

Is it possible to generate unconditional friendliness towards both ourself and others? And why should we want to?

The focus for Days 11-20 of the 100 Days of Care is the ‘far-reaching’ attitude of Lovingkindness (Metta Parami).

These instructions for practice were given at Stream Yoga + Meditation on October 9, 2024.

Correction: at one point I talk about being a Bodhisattva, which can be translated as ‘bodhi’ meaning ‘enlightenment’ and ‘sattva’ in this context meaning a ‘living being practicing Dharma’. (I mistakenly said ‘sattva’ was ‘mind’, because I was conflating the term with bodhichitta where ‘chitta’ is ‘mind’).

The recording does not include the guided meditation prior to the talk, nor does it include the discussion and Q&A that followed. If you are interested in the full 1.5 hrs session, please write to us at hello@gentlydownthestream.org.

We are still working on improving our lighting and sound. Thanks for your patience.
