Keep your 100 Days daily commitment simple, specific and measurable.
If we only have a vague commitment, like “I’ll try to recall my mantra/phrase and meditate everyday,” getting clearer will be very helpful.
So we can clear up the above example with specifics that are measurable, like “I’ll recite my phrase (a minimum of) three times each morning while brushing my teeth, and I will set a timer (or use an app) and meditate for 10 minutes each day. I will aim to do my meditation first thing when I wake up, but if that’s interrupted I will find another time during the day to fit it in.”
Keep it small and achievable. 100 Days is a long time and more of a marathon than a sprint.
Combining the recitation of your mantra with an existing habit is called “habit stacking” and very powerful for creating a new habit.
Keep in mind that although we get really specific and clear on the ‘front-end’ with our stated daily goal, we relax our judgement if we miss a day.
We let our commitment be daily-ish, so that we don’t sabotage our success. We counter our discouragement with encouragement and determination to keep at it. Slow and steady.
